There’s a lot going on in the technical sales area at Texas A&M University! We are housed in the Industrial Distribution program, yet technical sales extends far beyond distribution, referring to any role where customer-facing employees are required to manage high levels of complexity. This complexity can come from the complicated relationships and logistics involved in doing business, the high degree of precision required by customers, or the technical nature of the products and solutions themselves. In any event, technical salespeople (often going by a variety of titles, including sales engineer, technical specialist, application engineer, CEO, and more) exist to simplify this complexity for their customers and create value for all involved. In fact, value is at the heart of everything we do – value to our students, value to our industry partners, and value to the scientific community studying how to optimize the management of the technical sales force!
